When we come to know God–Life changes. A lamp turns on. We think before we leap. Coming to know God is like a breath of the freshest air. Know of and coming to know are different. You may have been taught about God. We were given the basics of the 10 commandments, but did you put it in effect? Most may say: “Of course, I follow the 10 commandments.” Really? Interesting. If you tell “white lies” then you are not following the commandments. If you have ever taken something and didn’t ask for it–It’s stealing. When we come to know God, we learn better and do better. We’re not with that: “God understands…Forgive me God for what I’m about to do…” We practice walking better each day. Like a baby, we should stand, step, get back up if we fall, continue practicing stepping, until we master it–That’s how we come to know God (That’s how we learn to love God).
Deuteronomy 6:5 teaches us to love Jehovah with all our might. The more personal time we spend with someone, we come to know them; either we’re going to grow fond of them or lose interest, right? If we aim to love Jehovah with all our strength, we have to do what? Spend time with Him. When we’re dating someone, it would be wise to spend time with them so we can come to know them and decide if this is the route we should continue to pursue. People yap all the time: “I love the Lord”, but their language is foul, they throw rocks and hide their hands, they commit all types of sin and hide it in the dark–But, they love the Lord. This is what happens when people haven’t come to know God–They don’t have a fear of Him. I’m not talking about a “shaking in their boots” type of fear–Respect. Jehovah desires to be close to us. He desires to have a relationship with us. He doesn’t force us to have a relationship with Him–He gives us free will to choose (Joshua 24:15). People claim to be living their “best life”; They want to live as they please. God’s commandments seem more as a ball and chain to them rather than a method of protection.

Does God’s commandments seem like a prison or protection to you?
If you are a follower of the Most High God, have you dedicated your life to Jehovah?
Dedicate (verb) – making a promise; a commitment
In aiming to dedicate your life to Jehovah, you must come to know Him. Coming to know Jehovah is more than attending church. Have a talk with Jehovah and discuss with Him that you’d like to become a faithful servant of His. Ask of Him to search you and bring about change where change is needed. In Psalm 139:23-24, David asks of Jehovah to search him and straighten Him out. Jehovah is holy and if we claim to be children of His, we need to ask of him to cleanse us. The Bible is the source to getting to know Jehovah. We claim to be “good people”–He desires for us to become “holy people” “obedient people”. He knows we’re not perfect. He knows we inherited the DNA of Adam and Eve, but we can shed our wicked ways. It begins with making a choice to follow Jehovah and not our flesh. If you desire to be a faithful servant of Jehovah, ask of Him to direct your path and bring change within you. (Psalm 32:8)
In Matthew 16:24-25, Jesus made it known if anyone desired to follow Him–They would have to make a change. Jesus is the role model to follow if we are aiming to become children of Jehovah. When we dedicate our life to Jehovah, we have to shed who we are and follow His will. We can’t love God if we don’t follow his commands (1 John 5:3). Loving God is–Obedience. Fearing God is–Obedience. Fearing God is–Having respect for God. There are titles and labels, but which do you desire to be “holy” or “religious”? People relate religious to church and acts–The Pharisees were religious. Didn’t they have an appearance that they were serving God ?In 1 Samuel 15:22-23, Samuel questions about obedience vs sacrifice–Obedience is the key.
The demand in preaching the true gospel is much needed. When we practice coming to know Jehovah, we can become faithful servants of His. It begins with planting the seed (have a talk with Jehovah; express to Him that you would like to come to know Him). Pour your heart out to Jehovah and ask of Him to grant you wisdom that only He can provide. Ask of Him to search you and help you to find the narrow gate and keep you on it. Ask of Jehovah to cleanse you. To direct you in doing His will. Ask of Him to cleanse you and enable you to become a pleasing fragrance to Him. If you ask–Trust that it shall be given. (Matthew 7:7-11)
Each day I live, I want to know more and more about Him. I want to spread the seed of the true gospel. I aim to be a pleasing fragrance to the one and only true, living God–Jehovah. Dedicating our life to Him is coming to know Him and being obedient to Him. Follow as close as possible in Jesus’s footsteps and there you’ll find life.
Stay Blessed
